Nope! Attending live can be helpful if you want an accountability buddy to make sure you keep working on your mobility. <3
If you’ve got questions on any of the movement, just email and I’ll respond within 24 hours!
You’ll be sent a link to download the recording within a few hours after the live session. There will also be a one link depository for all the videos if you don’t want to download to your harddrive.
Yes! You will be joining other My Mobility Matters alums during the Core Stability, Hips and Shoulder classes who choose to stay after their program ended and continue to work towards their mobility goals.
The individual assessments will be just you and me!
The learning sessions are just for folks currently enrolled in a My Mobility Matters cohort, no “alums” or other students will be attending.
During your assessment, we’ll first talk about your goals, any previous injuries, any chronic issues or other “wacky body stuff” and what you do the most with your time (such as sitting in a chair alot or holding your toddler on one hip).
Then we’ll look at your static posture via a Zoom meeting, seeing the front, back, and both sides of your full body to look for clues about your body’s alignment.
If possible, please wear a color other than black and something form fitting such as leggings or shorts and a sports bra or tight fitting tank top.
If you have a space in your home/studio/other location that has a blank wall or one with less potential visual distraction, that is helpful but not required. Ideally, the space allows you to back your camera/phone/laptop away enough so we can see all of you from head to toes. I will take screenshots of the Zoom meeting. You will also have access to these images. These images are never shared without your explicit permission.
After the posture photos, we’ll need a small space on your floor to go through some other movement assessments together. I’ll also take screenshots of these movements too.
After your assessment, I’ll take a look at your photos and send you an email noting what I see and what your body might be trying to tell us.
It’s important to remember that these photos will be a moment in time and we shouldn’t get too attached to them or judge ourselves in a negative way.
In the email, I’ll also note what specific movements and body parts that we will work in class that will be most beneficial for you to focus on to bring your body back to a “neutral” alignment such as, if we can see the back of your hands in the front posture view, during the shoulder class we’ll work on “opening” the front body by peanut-ing your pec minor.
That depends on you and your goals!
Some folks continue taking regular mobility classes with me, others book virtual privates to help focus their mobility gains on specific on or off the pole movements, and still others leave with targeted information to work with an in-person manual therapist.
No problem! Extra attention is always available at a time that works for you. Book a virtual private session at this link.
As soon as you sign up, you’ll be given a code generated by the system. You’ll use this code to sign up for your first assessment. At that time you’ll sign a waiver and provide emergency contact information.
You’ll also receive the link to download the ebook of “Mobility for Pole.” (it’s in the receipt)
I’ll sign you up for the rest of the classes and you’ll receive an email for all scheduled classes + a reminder the day before with the Zoom link to join.
I am passionate about mobility because I learned it the “hard way” since I couldn’t afford physical therapy after my motorcycle accident. I discovering what worked for my body to learn how to walk again. When I found pole dancing, I had to dig even deeper and become the teacher and coach I wish I had.
These experiences have driven me to understand not just what works for my body but for all sorts of bodies. I’m a life-long learning with an open mind. I’ve taken a bunch of certifications and other educational courses to learn how to help you! (full list is here, under “Experience”)
Who am I?
I don’t have a movement background. I didn’t grow up playing sports and I’ve spent most of my life behind a desk.
I came to fitness and dance later in life after a debilitating motorcycle accident shattered my right leg. At the time, I was told that I’d never walk “normally” again let alone dance, run, or otherwise move freely again. That was a hefty sentence for a 19-year-old!
Through years of trial and error creating a movement practice first for myself and later for my students, I unlearned, learned, and relearned what it meant to move my body.
On my journey to move better, I found many teachers who were beautiful movers that had no idea how their bodies were moving in space. I found other teachers/coaches that did understand how to explain their movement but struggled to help students with chronic injuries, differently-sized or differently-abled bodies, or basically anyone who didn’t have a basic movement background access the same success as more able-bodied students.
To achieve the results that I wanted, I had to become the coach that I was looking for and understand from a practical (rather than clinical) perspective how to help myself first and then later my own students.
Mobility Matters is the result! And now I can help YOU understand your body more and move better through the My Mobility Matters program.
